A friend of mina has this cool replica / copy of the socalled phaistos disk dated back to circa 1850 BC / 1600 BC. It was discovered in the Minoan palace-site of Phaistos, near Hagia Triada, on the south coast of Crete.

We were wondering if this might be silver/silverplated or is it just made out of common metal?
I looked for some other replica's on ebay and such, and there are a lot of them from silver. So I checked it with a magnet and there was no attraction. Although that does not make it silver, but how can I check otherwise? The little "chain" is magnetic..

Well, if the loop soldered on, rather than "cold-connected" or cast as a complete piece with loop. That is a good sign of pure silver, since base metals are ruined by soldering. It may still be a solid metal with plating, but I don't see any areas where silver plating has worn off to reveal a different color. If you post the diameter, thickness and weight of the piece, that would also help determine if it's pure silver or not.
