Can't argue.
I put it @ F-12 because I have wingtips and 80% or so full rim.
I don't like that the motto is nearly gone, but I think that might be more of a weak strike than wear.
Looking for wisdom, what would make it a VG? Or what would keep it from being an F-12?
Jon

More hair lines around ear and slightly visible breast feathers would help. Just my opinion. Do you have a Red Book? This would help you to figure grade and values. But, keep in mind that the red boob is anywhere from 25%-30% high. Again just my opinion

I'd like to see full strong rims on both sides for a grade of fine. Reverse detail is stronger than obverse but overall I'd say VG-8.
You need to be careful about added mintmarks on both the 1932-D and 1932-S. Deceptive forgeries are pretty common even for lower grades.

My PCGS VG10 looks slightly stronger. VG8

Put me down for VG-8. Just not enough hair detail for Fine-12. Not a large price difference from VG to Fine.

Jon, No rats about it! You have a very decent circ quarter there. And as I mentioned previously, the price difference is not large. My retail price is only $20 higher for certified F-12 vs VG-8, or $10 higher than VG-10 (which is probably what your piece would certify as). A nice no problem key coin.

I agree "No rats about it" I would love those key date washingtons! For the record I agree on the VG grade

this is one of the coins I actually sold from my Grandfathers collection because I didn't collect Washington quarters and could not see holding on to a key date like this when so many others needs it to complete their sets. here is the pictures of the one he had and I think I was told it was in the F range at that time so you can compare

Are you sure that was Fine? The hair lines on the front are very nice and the only thing I can complain about is the eagle's breast is bare and two wing tips having uneven wear. That one looks at least VF-25, maybe VF-30

I agree. Looks more like VF-20 to 30. Good hair detail.

Is it just me or does the dark around the mint mark worry anyone?

Dark around mintmark and the weird "tail" off the top left of the "D" is pretty common. The depression that the mintmark is in, usually makes folks run scared... but that's the right look. IMHO
