So how did I do
I feel sorry for the seller on this one.
Its no special variety other than a plain 5.
It has a small verdigris problem that I hope to be able to fix.

So what grade would you give it and did I do good on the price?

I'm thinking it's somewhere in the AU range & that you got a steal.

Are you kidding me? If it weren't an auction, I'd be ashamed of myself for accepting a price like that.

Looks like it had die alignment issues - 8:00 obverse, 10:00 reverse - and I'll be unsurprised if it's Mint State.
Rest in Peace

Definitely at least an AU. Its a nice coin, but by my standard for buying I would call it a good buy, not necessarily great. But that's just my standard, I try to buy real cheap.

I would be wildly happy with that purchase.

Were you sweating it out the last 15 seconds?

By "fixing" the verdigris problem I hope you don't intend to clean it. I would rather have it this shape with minor verdigris, than this shape cleaned.

It's a nice coin as it is, probably AU-53

Then again, it is your $35 coin, not mine, do with it as you wish.

Are those hairlines from cleaning going at an angle from 11 o clock to 5 on the obverse, or just a grainy planchet?

Most of that verdigris looks like it would come right off with denatured alcohol or acetone and possibly the help of a light cotton swapping and/or rose thorn. Dude, you got that coin CHEAP!
