Hi, I had a question about the 55 S stamping I think the pictures would best describe what I want to know the Mint mark just threw me off. and is this normal on the 87P coin In good we trust looks to be on the rim but the rest of the coin is center. Funny I went to the bank and got a 50 dollar bank bag and was surprise to see a Wheat penny pop up that I needed and then after looking at it that is what I found.

Im a total novice to the whole coin scene any help would be great
Here are the pics. To save space I couldnt include the whole coin.

The mintmark on your 1955 cent was actually carved into the coin after the effect. It's a Philadelphia mint coin with an engraved mintmark. Why? I have no clue, I didn't do it - but that's what you have.

The second pic is definitive. The 1987 is affected by a form of die wear that is found on many early Zincolns.

wow on a 1914 D that is more realistic then a 1955. lol The person doesn't gain anything off of it lol. That was the only super odd thing about it. What was to gain putting a S on a 1955 penny. lol
