Here is a coin or token I found while metal detecting. It is very large and very thick. it is made of of what appears to be silver(no rust, corrision or pitting) and has no disquishing markings for dates or what it is. on one side it shows a Knight battling a dragon and on the other is shows a setting with 3 men. There is square hole in the middle which I believe identifies it has Chinese, beyond that I am at a lost. I would like to know.

1. What it is?
2. What it is made of(silver, copper, etc)
3. How old is it?
4. Does it have any real value?

Thanks

Hi,

It's a Chinese "lucky" amulet. This one appears to depict a specific story but I don't know it off hand - maybe someone else can nail that down.

It's not copper - it's a white metal that might be silver - though I suspect not. you'd need to get it tested.

Probably 19th Century though it might be 20th Century.

I couldn't really comment on value - there are a lot of these things about but this one appears to be quite a nice and interesting one - if it is silver at least you will have melt value.

It looks like there are some areas on the high points where a yellowish color comes through. That could just be a result of the camera flash though.

Either way, the design with the guy attacking the dragon with a sword is a modern interpretation. The black patina also appears to be applied rather than having formed over time. I don't think this piece is older than the 1950's.
