VNA's are VAMs Not Assigned Varieties. This could be due to several factors such as wear, lack of detail and in some cases varieties having die cracks not large enough to list.

So what is the difference between VNA and vam-1 ?

Quote:
The VNA's are simply coins that were submitted as new discoveries. there minor differences were not worth being assigned a NEW VAM numbers over there old numbers which they have..

If a coin already has a VAM number, why would it not remain that number until given a new number..... why would it become VNA?

excellent point Zee.........if the coin has attribution points that make it say VAM 9. and someone submits a coin with "additional" attribution points that are to small to list, it would still be a VAM 9....
In most cases.....those submitted have not made it to an assigned VAM listing ..Do to the fact there attributions are not " VAM worthy" by the rules.....such as the case with 1886 VNA with all the die cracks and the double clashes it has, they faded away from die deterieration that could no longer be confirmed..so it reverted to VAM 1...the cracks had no die BRAKES so it would not be listed....
VNA's usually fall into this category.....
