Hi, I just received ATB 5 OZ coins I ordered from A-Mark. Based on this image: the coin should have letters engraved on its edge, but it seemed the coins I received did not have those letters. I said it seemed because the coins were encapsulated in holders by PCGS, so it's not easy to exam clearly. Does anybody have the same experience? DJ

Beats me, the whole program has left a bad taste in my mouth.

I gave up on the Quarter program my self. I did collect the mint sets from 1999 to 2010. This new series is lost on me. The cost of the mint sets is way too high in my opinion.

There's very little edge lettering on these pieces, particularly when compared to their massive 9+" circumference. It's there but you can't see it through the opaque slabs.

I believe only 4 or 5 have even sold them to the public at this point. Based on what we've seen on HSN and ebay? There are likely no more available. The U.S. Mint will be selling the numismatic version soon however.

Thanks Park for attaching the update from Coin Update News regarding the Mint's release of the ATB 5oz quarter numismatic version which still has not been pinned down to a release date. I got a spokesperson to tell me to check back in early spring. Bryan read this update from Park for those AP's that still plan on selling the bullion coin. It looks like you need to register with them. I really love the quality of A-Mark's ATBs.

Just a slight clarification. The US Mint version will not be a proof. It will be an Uncirculated coin with Mint packaging and will have a "P" mintmark.
The dies will be blasted with ceramic dust so the coins should have a less shiny but a tad different appearance.
Obviously less issues with dings and scrapes than the bullion version

The design won't be know for 6 years...
"The reverse of this coin will showcase a portion of Cumberland Island National Seashore which is located in Georgia. The final design for the coin will probably only be unveiled in early 2018 before the first America the Beautiful strike of that year is released."

That is true about the unveiling of the design in 2018, but I don't remember ever being there. Of course in the ATB's defense, that may inspire me to go see it.

Rules of thumb:
1) If they have to tell you it's collectable, it probably isn't.
2) Most certificates of authenticity are far easier to fake than whatever they're "proving" is authentic.
2a) COA that state that coins are genuine issues of the US mint for modern coins are pretty meaningless. Does the bank provide one when you get a roll of quarters?
3) An edition that's limited to as many as are wanted by everyone in the world is unlikely to have much potential for price increase.
