I would lean toward Die Deterioration on that one. Let's see what DVCollector says.

The flattening encompasses the devices rather than the straight directional effect of MD.

But, I'm new to the world scene, so don't hold me to that diagnosis.

Hope that helps!

Isn't MD the same in all countries ? Sure looks like MD from here...and I'm no expert either.

That's dramatic--it would get my attention too. The pics fit to what I know about Machine Doubling: flat, shelf-like, without any notching, and cut into the letters vs. thickened.

Don't count on it! I'm constantly corrected in non-US forums for taking our language there - tread lightly!

On the coin above, look at the line to the right of the 2. Notice how the "MD" is to the left and above it/ That's why I'm thinking deterioration. Most MD I've seen is a one-time directional event (except in the most extreme die bounce cases).

I was almost certain that it was "MD", otherwise I had post this one in Scooby Due's topic "doubled dies of the world".. I'm a rookie in the world called numismatic..

Scooby I think there's some die wear on the 2 as well.

I assumed Machine Doubling was correct because that is what he titled in his post
But yes, I see what you are talking about...maybe MD and deterioration?

It has all the hallmarks of Machine Doubling.
