i chose the 1909 s vdb not for value, but to fill the empty hole in my lincoln 1909-2021 dansco. and I do not collect indian heads so this was an easy choice for me.

I've wanted the 09svdb since I was a little boy so it's a no-brainer, besides I already have the Indian. As far as the IHCs compared to the Lincoln cents I find the IHCs more interesting with the history behind them.

I see that 1909S VDB at coin shows all the time. And in almost any grade possible. However, I really don't see many of those Indian Head cents of the 08S or the 09S. At a rather smaller coin show last Sunday I didn't see one 08S or 09S Indian but many of the 09S VDB's.

I need both! I want both! Your poll is invalid! Quote: ...I voted for the 09-S Indian. It has a lower mintage and they are tougher to obtain than the SVDB I should choose the Indian Head cent for this very reason.

As an impossible fantasy that, more depresses me with the reality than anything else, I'll play along... I will never be able to afford quality examples of EITHER coin, but I suppose the most important hole in my Lincoln Dansco being filled would have to be my choice, if I just HAD to pick only one. But yes, of course I'd like BOTH as well !

I'm surprized since all you would have to is go to almost any coin show and the places are usually full of 09S VDB's. And if your not in the market for MS grades, I've seen many in G4 to VF20 for really cheap prices. I fear the biggest problem with purchasing a 1909S VDB is those are ome of the most commonly counterfeited coins on Earth. I've always wondered which is more counterfeited, the 09S VDB Cent or the 1916D Mercury dime. And thinking of it would have to be real if in a slab too is now almost still taking a chance since those too are faked.

It is just that I have never been able to spend that amount for just one coin. I will have to eventually. I am sure I will have no problem finding the coin I want.

The svdb is is grossly over-rated. First, it's a first year of issue, and has the squirrel effect. Second, it's not a rare, or even scarce, coin by any of the standard definitions. At any given moment, there are about a roll of them on ebay. Heck it was last summer, or perhaps 2009, when an entire original roll came to light. I had three svdbs before I got a 15s.
