that is correct, you can also check a box that says do not conserve unless they are positive it will stay the same grade also, they also will make an assessment and then call you and let you know if it will be in the best interest of the coin to do the conservation or not . With a darkly toned coin like mine it would be very hard to conserve it and it would never be Blast White again but still may be able to remove certain problems and lighten up the toning a bit to make it more eye appealing

So if I send them a raw coin, they should do the same thing, but they isn't a slab to contend with. When you send in a coin, how should you package it? I just got my NGC paperwork so I can submit coins now, but not having done it before, I want to make sure I do it correctly.

So if NCS "conserves" the coin and sends it back to you, then you could remove it and send it raw to NGC to grade, it you wanted to? I guess that decision would depend on how the conservation goes.

If you're submitting a raw coin to NCS, put it into a mylar flip (I use Safe-T-Flips™ ), then into a protected piece of cardboard (I use Safe-T-Mailers™ , a self-sticking cardboard cover), then into a padded envelope with the paperwork. I presume NCS gives packaging instructions for submissions somewhere on its site or on the forms.

Again, Bryan will know more on this. I'm not certain of the process of converting an NCS slabbed coin to NGC, but I think it's part of the NCS submission process wherein if it's eligible for NGC grading, it goes from NCS directly to NGC. If you happen to get your hands on an NCS-slabbed coin and it's not marked "cleaned", "damaged", or otherwise is eligible for NGC grading, do not remove it from the NCS slab. Otherwise, NGC will treat it as any other raw coin. Since NGC and NCS are part of the same company, it's best if NGC knows that a coin has gone through the NCS process.

That was the most important reason for my choice to submit the two coins I piggybacked with Bryan's order. What my coins need, I could probably have done myself but I want that NGC slab badly enough to pay NCS to ensure it.

Ok, that makes sense. I'm going to read through all my NGC stuff so I can get ready.

I think I'll send in my gold bullion buffaloes (still in the mint wrapping), along with two St Gauden raw coins. I am torn on whether to send in my 20th anniversary gold set, since it is opened, and I just don't know if I should keep them in the box or have them graded. Same with my 20th anniversary two piece set.

well I still haven't heard anything from NCS about these coins, and unlike NGC you cant track progress online, the only thing I do know is it did arrive there and they signed for the package. My credit card hasn't been billed yet or anything like that either, if I do not hear something by next Thursday I will call them to see whats going on because that will be 7 calander days longer than their projected turn around time (from the time they signed for the package not the time I sent them off)so either way I will find out something one way or another Thursday the 9th of November if not before. It has to be the ugly coin I sent to them because I definately do not see anything on the other coins that were sent in that would cause a problem. but I will keep everyone updated as soon as I find out something but as I said I know they made it there and they were signed for by an A MOLER.

Here is the deal in my estimation:

The coin is in a 64 Slab, however I am rather befuddled in that it made this grade without the eye appeal that is necessary. Even a 63 should have "attractive mint luster" according to ANACS.

Now if this were my coin here is what I would do. Break it out. Dilute my dip to 30% dipping solution to 70
% distilled water.

I would use gloves and rim hold the coin in the dip for only 2 or 3 seconds and then rinse it in a separate bowl of distilled water IMMEDIATELY and pat it dry (GENTLY) and take another look.

This Morgan has a lot of potential and if it reached this grade in this condition, I would try a little "help" and re-submit it. Be very careful in the dipping process. When it begins to please your eye stop! The temptation is to keep on dipping hoping it will look better after it reaches a pleasant eye appeal, but anything above this only damages the coin. Remember, when dipping less is more!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I did call NCS Last Thursday about this order and basically they didn't say much besides they have been evaluated and they should be going out sometime this week, so they should be on their way to NCG sometime this week. Once it arrives at NGC I should be able to track its progress online. I am sorry for not getting this information to you as I said I would but I got a little side tracked because we had to take my 6 year old to the hospital because she has a slight case of pneumonia and it just slipped my mind to pass along the info even though it was pretty vague

Don't worry about me, Bryan. My last submission took longer than this just to grade, and I have complete trust in you. Heck, you're buying nicer stuff than I sent you.

This is the first time I ever sent anything at all to NCS but have usually had pretty good results from NGC as far as time goes. I knew someone signed for the package I sent, so I was pretty sure the package was there, but it sure did make me feel a little better to hear them say the coins had been evaluated because I knew for a fact they were there then. To tell the truth, if it were just my coins I wouldn't really be in a big hurry, but since its yours and mine I start getting worried when things dont move along as fast as I thought they would or had expected, but they are at NCS just moving through the system

Bryan, does NCS have different levels of service such as Economy, Express, etc? And is Quality Control part of NCS or NGC and if NCS, does that mean you now have to wait for the coins to get finished at NGC before you get them back? I'm not at all certain I would be as patient as you.

NCS doesn't have tiers like NGC, and quality control is NGC, that means the coins have already been conserved and probably graded, they are in quality control at NGC now waiting for final inspection/packaging/shipping. There is no way to track the coins at NCS online you have to wait until they are sent to NGC to track them, the funny thing is they were never updated at all at NGC until they hit quality control so they have probably been there about 7 working days since we only had 3 coins and that probably put us in the higher tier
