and found the following regarding roll orientation...

24 were heads/tails
5 were tails/tails

not one single roll was heads/heads.

Hmm...what are the odds?

Any mathmeticians in the house?

You really have opened a can of worms. The simple answer to your question is that the odds of finding a heads/heads roll are one in three. That is assuming, of course, that the machine doing the rolling has nothing mechanically that would disturb the true randomness of the event. The size of the sample is not large enough for the law of averages to catch up. It's important to distinguish the difference between "odds" and "chance" or "probability". A classic example of this way of thinking is to ask the average person this question: " If I flip a coin ten times and it comes up tails every time, what are the odds that the next flip will yield a head?" Obviously the answer is 50/50 and that does not change for any number of subsequent flips. Casinos flourish because people in general cannot grasp that simple concept. I have five boxes of cents that I got over a year ago that I haven't gotten around to searching. When I do, I will let you know what a similar observation yields because it's interesting nonetheless.

I think that the odds of a heads/heads roll are actually one in four. Same for a tails/tails. Head/tails should be twice as likely since you have two chance to get it.

Individually speaking it's true...the 'odds' of having the same side of the coin showing on both ends is one in four. The odds of having different sides is one in two.

I'm guessing here that I was referring more to the chance that 29 rolls could show up without one of the four possibilities.

I just thought it was interesting - I know none of the orentations have any extra value nor is any of them scarce.

As of present I am not selling 2011 rolls at all. Not until I get more in.

Did you crack any of the rolls? Out of the first 2 rolls I cracked I found two solid 67's. The spotting was GREATLY improved over the 2010 cents.
