Was cataloging and noticed I have a 1909 Wheatie that I found roll searching in G4 grade. Checked the price in my Coins magazine and it's $365. I thought it might be an error so I checked the previous issue and sure enough, $365. Makes you want to start carrying them in your pocket, because a VG8 is only $3.85.

I don't know what your looking at but I can assure you your 1909 g4 wheat is not worth $385. And of all 6 of the 1909 cents I can't think of any in that price range for G4. The 1909s indian would be the closest but worth a bit more.

I guess the proof-readers were on a two month strike.

Quote: I guess the proof-readers were on a two month strike. It would have to be longer than that. I checked way back to the May 2010 issue and yep, $365. No kidding. The 2010 RedBook lists it for $3.50, however that was printed BEFORE these issues. I wonder what the people at Coins know that we don't. Anybody know what it lists for in the 2011 RedBook?

Actually I contacted the publisher on that one. I thought it was a blunder, so I reported it. He told me that due to budget cuts because of the price of gas they were eliminating punctuation in 'unnoticeable' areas of their publication. It can save millions over a relatively short period of time - or is that hundreds without the punctuation?

I'd say that's a pretty noticeable area, in the price guide itself. They can always leave out a comma or apostrophe somewhere in a sentence thats in an article with less noticeability. And greater accuracy to the price guide. But this brings up the question, so then why is it the same in their online guide? No gas involved there. It didn't save me any gas though. But you sure caught the decimal gone.

Now if the date was upside down it would be a 6061 coin. And those havn't been made yet so that could be why that price is so high.
