I'm sorry to hear that buddy, I can't imagine not having the family I've been blessed with. Mine passed at the way too young age of 62.

My father, an avid coin collector, passed away when he was 62 also. He didn't leave me much in coins though as he had to sell the bulk of his collection due to a very large hospital bill after he was shot in the head by robbers. That isn't what killed him though. He died of natural causes. My prized possession from him is a 1896 O Morgan that was in AU when I got it, but being an idiot that I was, polished it with silver polish and used it as a good luck pocket piece for many years. I didn't seriously start collecting coins until 2007 and father passed away in 2000. Now that Morgan is an 1896 O cleaned EF. H A are S H!!

you don't have to put all the kennedies in 2x2s. You could just put them in those plastic tubes. Works fine. BU 1964 kens are not rare or anything.

Great collection dzrick! Your Dad definitely had his family in mind when he chose a hobby to enjoy and spend his time with. That's what I had in mind when I started this hobby...something to enjoy at the present and pass on to my kids in the future. I also involve my 2 teenage boys in this new-found love, by helping them in their own collection. I'm into Morgans and a few gold, my 17 y.o son is almost complete with his Ikes and SBA and is starting on his Peace, and my 15 y.o son finished up his Kens and is now working on Franklin. Saturday is a Coin Exchange/Flea Market day for us. This hobby helped me so far in cutting down their internet/online-gaming time. Thanks for sharing your "treasure". - chuckpb (noob-mismatist)

That great to hear! I got into collecting about 7 or 8 years ago, just from circulation, when my dad gave me his old piggy bank!
It had a few indian heads and ALOT of wheaties in there! Too bad no silvers :( Ever since then I'm hooked!

Tim, There is a jar of wheat cents that aren't in any of the pictures. How did you know!
The rolls of quarters and half's, I figured on leaving them rolled hoping for some pleasant surprises in the future.
One of these days I'll lay out my coins and post some pictures of them too. My safe is just a little smaller than my Father's.
I wonder how many of us got into collecting because of our Fathers?

It is a pleasure to see a collection handed down to a family member who, will cherish and care for the coins and sets your Dad obviously enjoyed so much. I consider you a very fortunate person to of had a Dad who started you at a young age in the wonderful addicting hobby of Numismatics, best of luck, Be Well, Mike.....PS, Try to keep the coins from touching and clanging around into each other..........Handle with much care!!!
