Hi,
Technically, The coins were struck by doubled dies. BUT..before you jump for joy, more than half of all War Nickels have this doubling as the doubling was on master hubs that were used to make master dies and subsequently , working dies.
So, it is technically a doubled die but they are as common as sand at the beach so they have no extra value beyond the value of a normal War Nickel.
There is one die variety....a 1972 DDO Lincoln Cent that has a similar story and the coins have slight doubling. This particular 1972 DDO (Also effects D and S Mint coins) is so common that it is not even listed.
Master Hub and Master Die doubling also effects some Liberty Walking halves from the forties.
So for these issues, what is technically a doubled die has no extra value as they are in fact almost considered as normal for the issue.
Thanks,
Bill
