I haven't collected coins since I was in high school and have just been bitten with the bug again. I would like to start collecting the ASE's and probably the foreign 1 oz. silver coins at some point. I am mostly interested in collecting for the silver content, so while I am looking for coins in good condition I am not trying to buy perfect coins that I don't ever dare touch or expose to the light of day. I want to be able to open my book frequently and just stare at the pretty ladies. I would like an album that will show both sides of the coins. I would prefer an album that has openings with dates. I do not plan on removing the coins very often so ease of access is not very important to me. I would possibly be interested in an album that would allow me to leave the coins in the 2X2 cardboard cases or allow me to purchase the round individual coin cases for better protection. With these thoughts in mind, what might be some suggestions for a good albumb for me to purchase? I have no experience with albums except for the basic Whitman albums that I used as a kid so I am open to all ideas. Please let me know if there are any other questions that I haven't touched on that might help me make a better decision. Thanks for everyones input in advance.

First of all, to the CCF. As to your question, if you don't want to use the standard Mylar pages and a standard 3 hole binder, I have no Idea of a system that allows you to use standard 2x2 mounts in a Coin Album. Maybe some of the other member have a solution. The Dansco albums are well liked by many of the members here. I myself have had problems with larger coins and have switched to hard mounts (slabs) that are available at many different online and bricks & mortar coin stores. I did see a nice system at Amos that uses a molded Mylar 2x2, called the "Edge View Mount", and you assemble a black or burgundy page around the mounted coins. Once again you'd have to purchase a separate binder. I'm going to try this with my Mexican Silver Collection and buy one of those nice leather binders from another source. It's not cheap, but it looks good on a book shelf and has great presentation appeal. Good luck and I'm sure someone else will have some ideas. Again, welcome!

If you have a e-bay account, the seller sbf1960 is wholesaling an Intercept Shield album for 1986-2003 ASEs with proofs fir $12.00 + free shipping, as of today he has 143 left, 3-29-11. The item number is 280545773905. The albums are similar to the blue Whitmans or brown Danscos but include a slipcase for the album.

I would absolutely recommend the intercept shield albums. Great for keeping the coins in original condition.

Would you remove your proofs from encapsulating to put into an album?

Dansco has albums with and without places for proofs, so I guess many people put their proofs in the album. In general, I don't collect proofs, so my albums don't have those places.

Thanks for everyones replies. I have done some more research and looked around at some of the various options. In the end, I decided to go with a Dansco album for the ASE's. I have also branched out a bit and plan on buying a Dansco album soon for the Canadian Maple leaf series. I am also collecting the 1 oz. Australian silver Kookaburras. Those I am planning on putting into an airtite album where each coin will still be individually encased. This will probably be my method for diplaying other foreign 1 oz silver coins. A special thanks to ayejay for bringing the airtite coin albums to my attention.
