Hi.I often can't keep my hand steady to hold coins to view them so generally need to prop my hand against the side of the table or desk, which hurts lots. Ouch. Not to mention the edge leaves a dent in my skin :D I have a sock filled that I half filled with uncooked rice pellets and tied the sock off, to rest my elbow or wrist on when using computer mouse as any kind of hard surface really hurts and aggravates me. I discovered its also PERFECT for resting my hand that's holding the coin on it. The rice shifts to the shape of the hand and is VERY comfy. Great for tender joints or just prolonged periods of ogling coins close up. Hope someone finds this tip helpful

I use bags of Doritos, so I can snack in between. So, if you get some coins with nacho cheese dust on them, you'll know why. I wonder if Verdi-Care works on nacho cheese?

So THAT'S what that smell and orange powder stuff was in the envelope from you! I called in the Hazmat guys and they didn't know what it was (psyche) Yes, good idea to have snacks near at hand too!

Food, drink, and other contaminants should be kept far, far away from coins! I won't even have my EPW (as my wife calls it, my ever present water because I am always drinking water at home) near me when it is coin time.

Yeppers. I keep my ever full coffee cup at a distance. Learned that the hard way when I killed a keyboard once, plus runied a lot of what was on my desk! Imagine what coffee and food does to coins surfaces, or greasy salty fingers

Fortunately, I have never had a "coin-water" accident. Well, other than the occasional circulation find being washed with my clothes.

I actually really love the rice in the sock trick as that little assistive thing comes in handy for all sorts of things. No need to go out and spend lots on the ready made pretty ones. For the record, this also works to heat them in the microwave to use as heat pads on sore joints too. So heated, great physio for the hands WHILE working. Awesome! (I get rheumatoid nodules if I don't protect my elbows and wrists and have them on hard surfaces a lot) I'd love to hear other kinds of tips and tricks, in here too, to use when working with coins. So anybody jump in and add some

There was a time in my younger days, when, lacking tweezers to pull out specifically unwanted hair on my chin or moustache area, I use two quarter size coins, as tweezers, to pull out that particular hair, works quite well! and to my surprise, later on, saw it done by some cowboys, in those old western cowboy movies...

Depends on the socks. Some are made of really loose material and a decent amount of Lint floats in the area from them and onto the coins. Nothing like a dusty coin. For your arm, hands, elbows, etc. if you check Computer stores you would find they sell many already put together soft items for just those reasons. At many health places they too sell such items that fit exactly your arms for computer usage. I used to have a friend that had really shaking hands. At lunch time he would go to a bar and get a Manhattan on the rocks. After two of those, no more shaking at all. I too have trouble with Arthritis and find a couple of Martini's makes those pains go away. Or can't remember I have Arthritis. Other remedies would include hiring someone to hold your coins.

Music! Or some background noise that doesn't irritate you. I can only sit there for so long in silence while staring at coins.
