Misprint Nickel - Coin Community Forum

Carolyn7878 New Member United States 1 Posts	Posted 03/20/2011 7:31 pm HI my name is Carolyn and I have a misprint nickel and I dont' know the date because where it is misprinted at is where the date is suppose to be. Most times people will answer you through this forum so that others can learn from your discovery too. Would you say you have a gouge or blob in the area of the date? biggfredd Rest in Peace United States 9104 Posts	Posted 03/20/2011 9:43 pm My bet is you have a dateless Buffalo nickel. The date would be on the raised base under the Indian. It could be a misprint, but most likely the date wore off that high point of the coin. No real collector value. Report this Post to the Staff

Conder101 Bedrock of the Community United States 17884 Posts	Posted 03/22/2011 11:20 am With that very brief description and the fact that the type of nickel was not mentioned the short list of possibilities are Grease Filled Die, die break ( Cud), off center strike, date worn off (buffalo), or just post mint damage.
