1/4 of the way there! Looking good so far. Still looking at my first gold acquisition and I like the way this route looks. Cheers!

I think quarters are the way to go to, though I try to buy whatever I can afford if the lowest premium. I also like the little 1/10's, easy to buy one a week at my coin shop but that $25 over spot per coin is going to kill. I am thinking of selling all over my silver to embark on the same type of adventure as you though my goal someday is one of those kilo bricks, at $49K a pop that is a whole lot of 1/4's :) Love the idea of documenting it.

That 1910 Indian 5 dollar gold piece is just like a 2.5 version at my local pawn shop same year and all 1910, and the guy wants 200 for it. I see it often listed at 400 plus. It is in good shape, may be a good buy....

By the way Johnny, love that old gold coin collection, easily one of the tops I have seen thus far, amazing job well done....

That does sound like a very good buy, as long as it's the real deal.

Wow, very cool idea, I Think I might start doing this for my Bullion acquisitions. Pick one this, get a roll, pick something else, get a roll. Very cool Idea! Love it!

wish I knew how to tell the fakes from the real because then I would be doing the same! But since I am scared I get AGEs. I'm going to try and get some common graded ones. Keep it up Johnny!

I haven;t seen to many fake gold coins in my day. I usually always post them on here for authenticity reasons before I send them to my family for investing. Are there a lot out there? Not that you have heard of. That you have actually seen

You should snap up that Quarter Eagle for $200. That's pretty close to melt.

Fake indians are much more common, and usually higher grade. Since they are usually made of real gold, there has to be enough of a premium to justify it. Problem/circ libs usually sell for dead on melt or just the slightest premium. As long as the weight/dimensions are correct, I just don't see authenticity being an issue, and if it was fake it would be worth about the same anyways as bullion.

The indians usually have more of a premium, but examples in a problem holder are usually right around $400. The majority of my indians were once either in an ANACS or NGC AU details slabs as I too have authenticity concerns, though the 1912 I posted earlier I purchased raw from the show. The real premium on the indians comes in AU problem free slabs, but I would not remove one of those to put into a roll as that would be throwing money down the drain.

That tube is a real beaut! These half eagles really feel like you have a nice chunk of gold with history behind them. If they're good enough for Teddy Roosevelt they're definitely good enough for me.
