It has a strange wear pattern for sure. And he says it's lighter than in the pictures , this one must glow in the dark...

I see nothing that throws up red flags except it has been cleaned harshly.

The coin is most definitely genuine..... It is O-111A (LDS), and the rims and everything else about the coin (barring cleaning), looks exactly as it is supposed to. These early CBH were struck in an open collar screw press, and that is the reason for the lack of symmetry.

I agree it's a genuine CBH. I also agree it's been pretty harshly treated.
This seller seems to have many buffed/cleaned/polished coins...

Looks genuine to this oldtimer. Given this seller's experience and feedback, I'm reassured, too. My only issue of sorts is the use of the word "cleaned." Unless the pics are bad, the coin looks more scrubbed than cleaned. That said, I've experienced similar issues with pics.
Generally speaking, if a bidder is suspicious about a particular coin, he can always ask about the coin's edge (lettered in this case) and the weight.
Personally, I'd prefer owning a natural looking F-VF Bust Half for about $100 less than this one. If the subject coin is as cleaned/scrubbed as it looks, and is XF as claimed (pics are blurry) that equates to F-VF money.

Thanks for the input, I've learned something new. I'm not actually going to bid on this piece. I would prefer to buy coins from fuzzy memory for $200. More on that this next weekend and I'll provide pics too.
In all seriousness, I did feel this coin was questionable. After realizing I commented to purchase a coin I really don't know much about, I'm left wondering what it is I'm going to receive. Not, this coin. But another one. I have much to learn for sure. I appreciate coincommunity and it's members very much. What I learn here is so valuable that tuition is almost called for.

I am with you Chadwick, with series I personally don't really have much understanding. And looking at those pictures from seller I'd thought that its a fake also.
That said, this site earn my support.

Genuine, badly cleaned, and NOT high grade as claimed. Maybe F - VF details.

Quote: This beautiful authentic coin has been cleaned and is lighter in color than the pictures! It will make a great addition to your collection! Insurance is free and shipping is $4.95! It was noted as cleaned too. Sort of pricy from the amount of cleaaning but still a decent coin. And you pay for returning too.
