Oops, wrong section, sorry...
Yes, they had 2 varieties. Both of yours are pointed. Rounded is worth more for the 1910.

Never thought I'd live to see the day when a Canadian collector would refer to a silver 5cents as a nickel.
It says at the top of every page "Education is the key to collector success!"
Just words,not a motto here.
.
Meldude no offense meant to you.The use of this term for 5cents is both accepted and promoted on this forum.

Yes.. they are called 'nickels' because they have nickel in them...

This particular coin is 'silver' because it has silver in it...

Well let's face it , we tend to adopt the US terms for coins in our daily lives. I mean if I'm digging in my pocket for change I always say "Here I have a quarter" and never "here, I have a 25 cent piece" , the latter being correct of course. But still, it's easy to slip when making a note here on the forums.

In fact I've had to go back and edit posts I've made about US coins because I bet many of our American compatriots were scratching their head going "what's a 25 cent piece and what is he on about..."

I almost always call these fishscales, I think the only time I use "Five cent piece" is for tagging or formal descriptions.

I doubt that US collectors ever refer to their silver 5cent coins, half dimes,as nickels.Think I'll cross the border and ask in the US coin section.
