While reading about the off center quarter I realized that I had the same error on a copper penny. Looking at it for a 2nd time I noticed the line running NE from the chest. What do I have here?

It is a MAD cent. The obverse die is not centered above the reverse die. What makes it collectable if the devices falling over the edge of the coin. Nice find!

MAD instead of off center. The coin is not rotated. It is hit where it was supposed to in the incorect position. The reverse will always be centered, obverse can be adjusted. When a coin is off center it is a broadstruck coin. (The collar was not in place.) If the planchet is not in the correct place the coin can be broadstruck centered or broadstruck off centered.
Centered, slightly larger than normal.

These are scarce and command a premium value between $10 and $20 for one like yours.

I had no idea until I read that post on here that they were rare. Very exciting. Thanks for helping me to understand what I found and the significance of each piece as I find them. I wish it could be more.
