1st off, I am terrible at grading some types of coins and this series just happens to be one of them. I think I got a pretty good deal on this one, just trying to figue the grade. What do you think?

Luster seems weak for the level of wear. I agree with an AU-53 to 55 grade for detail but that would require that significant amounts of luster remain. If the surfaces really look as dull as shown in the images I'd value it in the EF-45 to AU-50 range.

Yeah, lack of luster would knock this down to an XF45 for me... maybe an AU50 on a good day.

AU-55 details but yeah, the luster is all gone. Was it a ground find maybe? Looks lightly corroded all over almost.

There is a reverse doubled die, Snow 10 for this year. However, I do not know the diagnostics of this variety.

ANACS graded it at 53. Better then I thought. Will get pics up when I get it in hand.

Machine Doubling was more frequent on the CuNi FEs and IHCs The 1863 DDR looks different; I'd say MD.  with AU55
