So I found this wheat and I just kept it because it looked like it was hit with something serious (like a 22. .lol)and I recently as of just now notices a "s" like impression/depression on the shoulder and on the reverse it looks almost like another image or something like bars? The rim and around it looks a little off as well but who knows..but just encase it isn't damage and just maybe someone tossed a BB in the press at that millisecond and its actually a legit error it would be a cool one... what do you think?

Yeah. I think I have a genuine 1891 plugged nickel. I say I 'think' I have one, because I can't prove that it was hit by a bullet, but it seems to be the case.
At least I know exactly what it is worth. I would estimate it's value equal to that of a plugged nickel!

A BB was not on this coin when it was struck. This happened after the coin was struck. If this happened with the strike the obverse die would keep the obverse of the coin from showing the damage. Having a mark on the opposite side of the coin is always a clue.

I like the first "A" in AMERICA. It looks like it's falling off the coin.

Might of been hit with an older lead BB Most .22's would go clean through.

The bump only comes out the same distance as the rim of the coin.. notice how its flat.. so it had to be laying against something flat when this happened.. I can figure it out.. really think if someone pressed something down into it there would be some serious stress marks but it looks so quick and clean.. it it possible that it could be a case of struck fragments that made their way in there?

It looks like a bb shot thru, then the coin was squeezed in a vice to flatten the hole out and close it. Other than that, about the only part of this coin that doesn't have PMD or pms is it has a nice clear vdb.

When do we get to see some errors or die varieties? This place has become the broken coin showcase.

I can rule out a .22 for you. I hit this one 3 times at 100 yards. Richard
