I am new to Coin Community, I read a lot of your forums, so I decided to embark on the adventure. I was in banking for over 20 yrs, and I have always love collecting coins and currency. My husband and I now are advid collectors. I would like to ask anyone if they know what this commemorative coin is, and if there is any value to it. It reads American Bicentennial Society Special Gold commemorative. I have searched everywhere and cannot find what this is. I purchased it with other coins, do not have it yet, but the owner stated it was 24Kt gold. Can anyone help? Thank you much

to the Community!

I moved this the Identification forum. Although I do not know what it is, I am pretty sure it is not an official US Mint issued commemorative coin.

You may need to post a picture, but hopefully someone will be able to identify it for you.
Rest in Peace

A virtual slew of medals and tokens were issued for the Bicentennial - I have one, for example, that commemorated the Bicentennial Youth Debates. Yours was probably available for a "special" price ... etc.

That typically means it was "gold plated" with an extremely thin layer of gold around it.

Looking forward to seeing some pictures.....

If it is the Lincoln Mint issue, it is indeed 24K gold, about .0417 ounce, or $60 worth at 1450 gold. Smaller than a dime.

Three recently sold on ebay, from 51.11 + 3.50 shipping to 61 + 4.95.

Thank you all for replying to my question. That is exactly the coin in IBGolden's message. I have not received it yet, but I will send a photo when I do.
