You are posting to one of the best sources of what you have an image that is your coin. Also coppercoins.com is another great source for coppercoins. A lot of questions can be answered there free of charge. There are a lot of publications that are available. Some good/mediocre/great. It just depends what you are looking for.

Charles Daughtrey's (coppercoins) book "Looking through Lincoln Cents" The Cherrypicker's Guide Ken Potter's "Strike it rich with pocket change" would be a good start.
An excellent supplement would be "The Error Coin Enclyclopedia" by Margolis and Weinberg.

Thanks Scooby! Looking for them now. There are some many things to look for in US coins. Foolish me put all my 1982+ zincs back into the wild lol...without looking at them.

I think that's one of the attractions of collecting Lincolns. There's almost always something to look for every year.
Varieties seems so much more difficult to find on other denominations (at least it seems like it to me). Which really doesn't make a lot of sense. That, or I just get tired of looking and go back to Lincolns. Not sure which.

thatcanuckyguy- Scooby's suggestions are excellent and would have been my own. Each book covers different areas and don't overlap eachother, nearly at all. The information contained in each is PRICELESS. Websites are good, forums can be an excellent source of knowledge, as long as you pay attention to who you're listening to.
Personally, for me and me only- there's no substitute for a book where you can flip to the page and see exactly the info you wanted. If you love the books, you'll beat the heck out of them. Each edition of the Cherrypicker's Guide that I've had is missing it's covers and has tears and stains by the time I get the newest edition to replace the last. If you buy all 4 books and absorb each page, you'll be well on your way. There are plenty of more advanced books for each series as well as you progress. Good luck in the hunt!

liveandievarieties,
Thank you kindly! I enjoy the forums and the vast knowledge contained within. A lot of great folks here. Yes I am book hound as well and love to just get away from the computer and just flip to a page on the spot! Thanks to everyone here for steering me in the right direction of reading materials. It is very much appreciated!
