I really tried to get sharper pics here. The areas in question are the inside of the vertical bar JUST to the right of it and a doubling starting at the outside of the upperleft point of the "D" and and extending clockwise around 60% of the "D". I was thinking possible MD, but weren't the MMs all hand-punched up until 1990? Does that make pretty ANY doubling on pre-90 MMs RPMs or PMD(it does NOT look anything like PMD either. upon close inspection with the loupe, the line I am talking about is very clean, sharp and finessed, if that makes sense. Thanks for any help!

I checked all 4 versions and mine is different. the vertical line is very subtle, but the main sign to me, is the line on the outside of the D, starting in the NW corner and extending counter clockwise to E, slight SE. I wish I could I get get a clearer pic as it is very evident in the loupe and I don't know what else could have cause this.

I meant "extending Clockwise", NOT counter clockwise, sorry.

I found one cent that the plating was split inside the mint mark and you could see the zinc showing through. The mark in the center looked just like that except was gray on the side facing the verticle upright.
ADDED: Just re-check the center image. It is a die scratch. You can see the line above the mint mark that continues through the center.

thanks for the info. I will agree to the rational behind the vert. line, but I am still stuck on the line above the MM extending clockwise to the SE quadrant of the MM. This is the line which I cannot get clear pics of but it is clearly raised and precise, like a punched MM. I am really hoping I can send this to a forum member for at least confirmation either way and/ or better pics. thanks for all your help!

The SE quadrant suffers a lot of plating splitting, so I never look there as 99% that is what it is. After 1990 you don't find this problem since they put the mint mark on the die and not punch it into the die making a fin in the lower SE area on the mint mark.
