Searched many boxes looking for one of these with no luck. Sent an employee to the bank to get change for the drawer. Cracked open the roll and got a little excited to find a War Nickel and a few 50's. Didn't even realize what I had found until I got home, put it in a 2x2, and then flipped it over to see what mm it was to label it. My first Henning! Finally, always thought I'd have a decent shot at finding one of these, living in N.J, but never thought it would come from a single roll that I'd break open for change at work. Haven't seen one at any of my local shops or coin shows and only one dealer knew what I was talking about when I asked if he had ever came across any of these. He knew it as a Camden counterfiet, not as a Henning. What kind of value do these carry? (can't find them for sale anywhere)

I agree... great find and a true piece of US coin history! That said ... truly wish you would edit your post tile ... titles ARE IMPORTANT ... something like "1944 Henning Found" would attract a lot more interest. Great coin. David

Great find! I think the 1944's still circulate because there are still not a large amount of coin collectors familiar with them. They can still be located through dealers if you put the long term effort into it. I actually bought 5 of the 1944's last week (I would have rather found them like you did). I think the $100 price coppertop is talking about might be the $250 offering price I have in the wanted section but this is for a 1946, 1947 or a 1953 Henning. I have never seen a 1944 sell for nearly this high.

Great find! Invest in some scuba equipment and metal detector and check out Copper Creek and Schuylkill River in New Jersey. Apparently Henning dumped 400k of them between these two...but they might be a bit rusty by now.
