Name My Puppy Before May 1st.

I had to have my Golden Retriever put to sleep about a year ago. My wife has finally convinced me that we should get another. So, I found a reputable breeder and sometime between August 1st and the end of the year we'll be bringing home a Golden Retriever puppy. We haven't decided on a name yet and, in fact, are having trouble coming up with one. That's where YOU come in! If you come up with a name that we can use for the puppy you'll win a prize!

I haven't decided exactly what the prize will be, but it will have the following attributes: It will be U.S. coinage; it will be 90% silver; it will be AT LEAST 50 years old; it will be uncirculated; it will be slabbed by a reputable TPG service. (A while back I won an uncirculated slabbed Mercury dime for being the winner of the "Name My Kid" contest here on the forum. I will NOT be re-gifting that dime!)

Rules and other stuff you should know: The puppy will be a FEMALE. The "base" name must be two syllables long. Our last Golden Retriever was named "Scarlet" (her FULL name was Snow-Footed Scarlet of Golden Pond -- but the base name was just "Scarlet") and we will NOT use that name again. We don't like weird names. Contest ends at midnight, eastern time, on April 30th. Contest is open to all forum members regardless of the number of posts you have. If more than one member submits the name we eventually choose, the member who posted first wins. Spelling counts...if we like "Linda" better than "Linduh", Linda will be the winner even if Linduh was first. (But neither of THOSE will win...it wouldn't be right for my wife and my dog not to know which one I was whistling for...) Only one post per day. Maximum of 3 names per post.

I will give occasional updates as to which names we like best so that you might better gage where our taste in names lies. If I figure out what the prize is before the end of the contest I'll post that info, as well. Winner will be announced on May 1st.
