I got a silver quarter before. You'd think they'd be smart enough to check it right?

I've only found foreign coins in the reject slots, but as of late someone always beats me to it. It doesn't help any that one location told me my half dollars are no longer welcome there, so I only get to check once a month or so unless I happen to be at jewel-osco or something.

I have found a silver dime once. I think it was a 1964.

I found a 1923 LWC and a fake 1943 copper cent yesterday... I needed the '23 for my album, and I'm going to have to assume the war "copper" is a fake...

Does anybody know how to buy the coins from the Coinstar machines? As in, the bags of coins inside the machine that are picked up by armored car service or whatever. I would imagine those would be the real deal. People turning in Grandma's 50 year old coin bucket for beer money and whatnot.

You might be able to work a deal with the people who pick them up, but you're prolly talking thousands per load.
The machines are set to reject silver, steel and foreign coins. What did you hope to find?

I have found euros in the one at the grocery store near my house. Not bad, $1.27 each on the exchange rate.

That's interesting and depressing at the same time. Only just yesterday I dumped $40 worth of coins into a CS. There were a couple nickels rejected that I left along with some pennies I didn't get in before it wrote my receipt. I hand checked the entire set of coins before going up there but I guess I missed some. I'll never make that mistake again. And I may have a new way to pass the time while the significant other grocery shops.
