Hello list: Has anyone found anything good at the bottom change tray on a Coinstar machine? I've found a 1942-D Mercury dime, several of the Jefferson Silver War Nickels (1942-1945 series), and several Wheat Cents in the 40's-50's in the last year. It's nice that old coins can still be found from cashed in piggy banks and cans!

It's nice that cs are tightly adjusted. They can tell silver coins and kick them back.

Everyone keeps talkign about these coin stars. I have seen them before but do you have to have access to open them to get the coins your talking about?

Open access. Much like change return slot on a vending machine.

Just the other day I found a 1958 silver shilling in the reject tray.People don't seem to look at what it is they're dumping into the machines.

I have never seen a coin in the Coinstar machine reject tray, ever. What am I doing wrong?

Shopping where underpaid employees check the slot for a living.

I have the same problem: the word seems to be out on these machines in my area, slots are they are always empty, and I often see others checking them, also!

Yeah a lot of non-collector Americans really astonish me with their interest in coins. You would love it up north here where everyone still ignores their change: tons of. 999 nickel around, wheats still to be found, and even the occasional silver dime!

Watched a lady dump her coins, pick up a reject and throw it back in the hopper.
Rejected again, and she left it.
201o Canadian dime, now the Salivation Army's problem.

Ditto for me, and recently I've made it a point to check every time I'm in a store with one.

We get lots of foreign coins and interesting tokens in the local Coinstar here. Mostly from South America.
I'd *love* to find some silver. :-)

Coinstars here have dark green reject slots which make it hard to see if there's anything there. Today I saw a cent in the slot so I snagged it. As long as my finger was already there I felt around and sure enough there was another coin in the back, not visible. That turned out to be a 1964 dime, the first silver I've found in a Coinstar.

My daughter beats me to the slots on any type of machine all the time. My wife tells me that I taught her "that". ...and it pays off too!
