It's not in the best condition, but it is flat on one side, and it doesn't appear on the other. Here are some pictures:

Could be a straight clip but could also be PMD. Lots of corrosion on this coin.

I'm not sure a nickel with a straight clip that size would strike a partially full rim over the area of the clip.
I think this one got in a fight with a belt sander, or any number of other types of damage.

I'd have to see a side view of that to say- sometimes a massive rim ding can appeer to look like a clipped planchet, when it is just simply post-mint damage.
