Got this coin for melt value. What do you all think the grade is? FYI - the coin is darker then the pics do to my bad lighting (trying something different). I am thinking Fine but hoping for better.

Also thinking of getting it graded but not decided yet.

If LIBERTY is stronger than the pics, I would say VF-25...overall detail is strong. A weak LIBERTY might drop it as low as F-15.

I'd say it easily grades VF-20 and could go 25. Color looks original (except for that enlargement that makes the coin look cleaned). I'd guess it's worth 10x melt value so you made an excellent purchase!

It looks solid VF-30 to my eye. The liberty is full and the reverse is nearly XF with the wing detail. 35 wouldn't shock me. Terrific coin for melt!

You got that for melt value? Looks VF+ and worth way over melt. Congrats on your good fortune!

I was figuring low was F15 but was hoping for mid to high VF. I think I will get it graded since even with grading cost I will still make out good.

Looks great, I'm jumping on the VF bandwagon. Dark original toning is definitely a plus for the value.

VF25-30. Definitely get it graded. VF-XF is a good grade for people looking to accumulate Barber halves at a reasonable price, so they are in very high demand.

That's exactly what I've been looking for to put in my 7070.......a nice looking Barber half for melt. Unfortunately you found the only one available in America for this year so now I'm back to square one. It does appear to be obverse limited but I'd grade it at VF+ anyway. Nice score!!

Went out in the mail today to ANACS along with a 1863 IHC, and 6 Morgans (1881s, 1887s, 1889s, 1892s, 1895o). The IHC was one I got for cheap and need it for my graded type collection. Each coin figured out to be around $16.50 each for grading.

Then when it gets back, you can post it and everyone can see how close they were.
