For proofs, they break them out of the proof sets, and for the uncircs they get them out of the now-released 2011 uncirculated set. They can also just be pre-orders also.

Or they robbed the US Mint. Now that would be a great way to get FIRST RELEASED COINS.

I got my 2011 uncirculated set in the mail from the mint on Feb 16th, so its entirely possible someone has opened their mint set and selling off the contents.

plus the fact that the mint stopped doing the Satin Finish on Mint Sets helped collectors get them sooner

I've already filled up my Dansco pages for 2011 for the National Park Quarters, and the Presidential dollars. I purchased the 2011 Uncirculated set sometime last month and broke it open. Since the Presidentials are 8 coins and the National Park is 10 coins each year I decided it was cheaper to buy the Uncirculated set from the mint each year and use those.

It is getting to where I am seriously considering doing this as well. I am just not finding much after 2008 in my change these days. I am torn between starting to roll search again or buying the sets. I think buying the sets would be easiest.

I usually find some 2010 cent/dime/quarter in my change, but no nickels and no 2011 in change yet. I haven't tried getting rolls/boxes from banks. I may try that once all my albums are current.

I opened the 2010 mint set in front of a non-collector and I swear to God she said to me: "Oh! These are pretty, what country are they from?" LOL. She had never laid eyes on any of the dollars or ATB Quarters before, so it is sad that the US Mint is making coins for just a few when they should be for everyone.

Yeah, the ATB's are pretty low mintages when you compare to decades past that the Mint usually puts out.
Not too many appear in the daily pocket change !
And the Dollar coins still just don't circulate at all.

So, I expect that there are more than a few people who wonder "what country those coins are from" !!
