so with my new job as the overnight front desk guy at a hotel, I have about 6 hours a night now that I can look through coins. I started out a fresh bo of pennies this shift with great enthusiasm. About half way through I was losing determination, having only pulled 2 rough looking 64's in the first half. The second half of the box didn't prove it's worth either, with roll after roll of brand new pennies pouring on the table. I was about to give up in the last 5 rolls when it happened..
I poured the roll on the table, expecting a sea of shiney pennies, and to my surprise, the whole roll was copper! I was determined now.. slowly, one by one, coin by coin I examined them carefully..67..got it..65..blunt 5..got it..64..woopie! -_-....42..wait...42!
finally! something worth while! a hole filler! a date my collection is missing!
mabye this box wasn't so bad after all I thought. Then they kept coming..george after george..and soon enough the roll turned into..
THE BIGGEST GAP FILLING ROLL EVER!!
I pulled every 40's date I was missing!!
1942 1943 1945 1946
and last but certainly not least
BOTH 1947s..the regular date AND the one with the mini maple leaf beside the 7
oh boy was I excited! like a little boy on christmas! I almost screamed with excitement! ( then I remembered it was 1:30am in a hotel )
and thats about it to this amazing story :)

We received on Sunday a bunch of coins, through the local church, as they have a 'penny drive' every year. We finished going through them this morning, this is what we found- Canada Nickels .999 under 1981=43 Canada Cents 2009/1997/2000/2008/in BU- 1971/1975/1977/1973/1980/1984/ in AU and a 2006 'P' magnetic- GEO V1=8- Canada ten cents-1960 'silver', 1970 low mintage Canada Nickels=1977-5 U.s. Nickels=2004D Lewis & Clark/ 1941 Jefferson U.S. Wheats= 13 and a 1958D in AU-50 18 Memorials and a 2010 Shield cent. Not bad for the first week, there is 3 more to go.

Were they machined rolled? If so, its interesting that you all of a sudden pulled an awesome roll out of a box of duds. Glad for your happy ending!

No, they were not rolled, they were in a big bucket, all mixed up we had to separate them, then we rolled them.

shafta I believe he was asking if my rolls were machine rolled. I don't believe so. The looked like they had been hand rolled as some were at 50 cents, others were missing a penny here and there. Sometimes when I get a box of pennies from a bank, they bring them out in bundles of 10 and put together the box themselves, other times they go in the back and bring up a whole box. I always make sure I never hit the same bank in the same week and I also mark rolls I bring back with a little KB ( my initials ) so I know if I get rolls back somehow.
we have a very LARGE vase/jar thing in our vlt lounge for something called "pennies from heavan". I'm going to try and get permission from the boss to look through it for any pennies I'm missing as I'm guestimating theres a good 50 to 60 dollars in there.

I love that feeling! I usually find something early on then get skunked the rest of the way. At least this way, you end on a high note.
