Question for the experts:
Was the "regular" 5 Peso coin minted for circulation in 2008, 2009 and 2010 or were only the 5 Peso coins from the two series "Revolution" and "Independence" brought into circulation?

That chart is missing the $20 pieces from 2000 and 2001.

Quote: only the centennial/bicentennial "were brought into circulation" sorry fcrazo to say different, but last year "normal" 5 peso coins dated 2008 were put in circulation, this year "normal" 5 peso coins dated 2009 and 2010 were put in circulation, it seems the Banco de Mexico was withholding them for whatever reason they do these things.

Hello Folks!Thank you very much for your input and information. It's highly appreciated! Very interesting to hear that the "normal"/"regular" 5 Peso coin is brought into circulation after all! According to the first chart from the link above, (and if I am reading it correctly), almost 10.000.000 regular 5 Peso coins were minted in 2008 and 2009 and nearly 7.000.000 in 2010. @Libertad:The first chart indeed omits the 10 and 20 Peso coins commemorating the new Millennium (I think they have the Schön Numbers 236,237,238; KM 636,637,638). HOWEVER, the second to last chart from the above link is titled "COINS COMMEMORATING THE ARRIVAL OF THE YEAR 2000 AND THE BEGINNING OF THE THIRD MILLENIUM" So, their coinage figures are there after all

I see it now. Thanks. I was focussed on the 1st chart only.
Does anybody here have a Zapata coin yet? I have only 1-2 duplicates of this series and far from a complete one (had to make do with one visit). This series is sort of hard to find in MS or AU because these coins actually get used for commerce (tips and parking, for example).

The heroes 5 peso series has become very difficult in AU-BU. In the last Mexico City Convention I saw foreign dealers asking other dealers if they had up to 25 coins of certain characters because there were parts of Mexico where those coins were not distributed. In Mexico City, numismatic stores sell each 5 peso coin at least 2X of face value and not all characters are available. Speculation is quite high around this series.

I was just looking at a 2010 Mexican Bi-Metal Coin Set of Heros of Independence and Revolution. It came in a cardboard folder that just folds in half. First time seeing these kinds of coins before. Never knew Mexico made bi-metal coins. Some lady in those lunch trucks, brought it to show me, since she knew I was into coins.
Never was into Bi-Metal Coins, but the set she had looked very nice and I can't seem to find another complete set like hers.

ebay is about the only place I know where you can purchase those coins but a complete set is hard to come by. The folders themselves are pretty attractive, very colorful. Too bad they never made a "official" folder for the 1oz Silver State Series as thats what I collect. Man, I miss those "lonchera" trucks! They don't have them in my area but whenever I am in California or a hispanic neighborhood I try to eat at as many of them as I can!
