Has anyone ever bought one of there MS70s and had it regraded? How far off are they?

It's like the difference between the distance from Earth to the moon and Earth to the sun! Some of their coins aren't even uncirculated. Some barely make AU. They've never had close enough pictures to tell, but I would go out on a limb and expect cleaned coins in those "slabs" - makes them look all shiny, you know... Let's be generous and say that the minimum actual grade they have holdered would be EF40 (which I doubt), that would make the maximum point difference 30 points or almost half of the Sheldon scale!

Wow, this seller is a scumbag!! I read his negative and neutral feedback on Toolhaus (thanks again whoever left that link! This is a priceless tool to have! ) and can't believe he is still allowed to sell on ebay. He sells overgraded and fake coins as a normal part of his business. One of the feedback said the coin was MS64 and came back from ICG AU68! That's pretty bad. I am so glad I found this site before I started buying coins. I would have probably lost a lot of money on some of these things. I just need to buy some books on grading coins (with good pictures) in order to get better grading coins.

I strongly recommend Photograde and I would get a 2005 or older edition. I don't know for sure if they reworked their grades to comply with the ANA market grading standards that got so lax in 2006. I am fortunate that I learned how to grade before even the Sheldon scale, so my only real weaknesses now are modern coinage and gold (which I am learning as rapidly as I can).

Maybe we ought to form our own CC grading service and line our pockets from all these fools who get suckered into buying these super over-graded coins. I'd be happy to upgrade my MS-64 and -65 Morgans to MS-70. Some day, aboncom is gonna sell the wrong coin to the wrong person for too much money and find himself facing a judge vis a vis ACG and Ney.

Look what I stumbled upon as I was searching for empty proof set packaging for one of our new members: SGSenterpriseApparently, this ID is for items that are not actually graded by Steve's Gift Shoppe.

Where would I find an older version of this book? Also, would you recommend getting a Red Book as well? And if so, a new one or older one? Thanks

He should call his ebay business Abon-CON because that's what he does! He seems to have turned conning people into an art form!

My local bookstore has an older copy of photograde. Check to see if your bookstore has a copy in the collectibles section.

Susan, I see the 19th edition of Photograde is copywrighted in 2005. Would this be ok, or is the 18th edition better? the copywrite is more like 1995 on that one.

Haven't posted in a long time!
But Fred, I think having our own CC Grading team, it'll be great publicity, maybe get sponsers from ANACS.

I believe the most current edition is the 19th edition.

Sorry, I know I haven't been around much. Working a lot of hours and got sick. The 2005 edition should be okay. It was in 2006 that I saw the changes being made to the standards.

Susan I am sick much of the time that is why I am dis-carted by society as unfit to work full time ( I got allergic dysfunction ) I am nobody to give advice but I only got a little better when I quit the rat race Or what you Americans call keeping up with the Joneses . Nowadays I only try to work enough to keep afloat financially . My wife got Fibromialgy and is as good as invalid I know I have been accused of malingering and being caustic and being a cynic but believe me ; happiness is more then money and more then respect from the neighbours who are undeserving to pass judgement So I can feel your pain ; I have been there and do not want to go back again
