I am still trying to learn to detect Machine Doubling better and I think I'm seeing it in this coin. I'd like to find out if my guess is correct or not.

This is a coin in which I don't see the popular double ear or anything wild like that, but in some spots it's doing something on the obverse which I don't see on other circulated 1984's I compare it to.

The main locations where I am seeing this are:
-Lincoln's face from the nose to neck.
-Doubling of 'ERTY' in LIBERTY.
-What looks like second earlobe at the bottom of the ear. (Not the *the* double ear though)

What is this?

Thanks.

I hope my point & shoot through the loupe shots work to show this.

Yes. Machine Doubling.

Pretty much every time you see doubling on the outline of the profile it's going to be Machine Doubling.

This one also has the classic flattened down shelf-like appearance of classic Machine Doubling.

Thanks guys. Much appreciated.
Instead of the junk bin this one gets saved so that I can use it to compare with others...which will all end up in the junk bin.

Instead of junking them, I pass them on to new collectors so they have an example of what is not doubling...I also save some of the extreme MD just to keep them off ebay

I sell all mine on ebay as double dies to unsuspecting, uneducated children for big bucks because I lost my job and I am entitled to take advantage of others.

Ok now for a very unorthodox question? Has the profile of Abe been doubled on a coin (besides an ear)? If not how is in not possible. I dont believe I have ever heard of it, just want to know or is it because of the minting process.

This happens from normal dies while coin coin is being struck the die move slightly and damage part of the devices. Happens a lot. Often mistaken as a doubled die, but is just as common as sand. Not a real collectable. Sold on ebay to the rubes by bottom feeders.
