wasn't big on 3 cent pieces before, but now I'm hooked !

Here are some of my 3-Cent finds from the 19th Century lot I got in yesterday.

Grading opinions, and is that a major die break / crack on the obverse of the second one?

You found these in the 19th Century and you just got them in yesterday? Who was the carrier, Pony Express?

J/K. That's a die crack. Oh, but it's a biggie! As you continue to experience these, you'll see, many of them are cracked, here and there, that's pretty common.

lol, Must have been

Most of the coins weren't in great condition, so I'm showing you highlights, but these really did just come loose in a bag.

1,817th piece. An 1874, she's not pretty, but the best I got for this date.

That's quite a beautiful lot And if that die crack was any bigger, it would have turned into the mother of all Cuds'...

This is pretty much it These are mostly common date 3C's and they replace the 2 nickel 3Cs I had before So I went from 2 to 13. And one will go to upgrade my 7070.

That's what I'm trying for it. I've got a lot left to go....the hardest ones left to go I might add. When I post my count of unique pieces in my collection, I consider a piece unique for date, mm, type, and major die variety.

NICE, NICE, NICE!
I'm a HUGE fan of the Nickel 3 Centers!

And talk about you getting an instant collection! Wow!

The 3 Cent Nickel is just a great design and a unique part of our US numismatic heritage.

I loved it when I told my kids about the US's "3 cent nickel". They looked at me like I was completely mental! (How can a "nickel" that's worth 5 Cents be only 3 cents?)

And then I laughed!

And then showed them the coins...
