Here are a few more POSSIBLE RPMs. Two are 1979 D, The 1940s not quite sure..looks like some split serif at bottom of S but could not get any better pics.

The '79 D looks good. I can't tell about the 1940.

I would agree with the '79. I don't see anything on the '40.

If I remember correctly the 79 D with the split bottom serif is quite common. I know I have found quite a few myself and I think I remember a post on the forum about the 79D.

I agree with cladhunter13 that 79 D/D is common. So common that I automatically toss them. I don't know enough to have a say about the 40S.

The 1979D is normal.

The 1940S is an RPM.

It is but it is from a damaged punch. A large percentage of the 1979-D Cents have this. Common. Not a RPM.
