I have this Stone mountain half for a while now and like a lot of people this was my first commemorative half. It is in a PCI holder. I would like to know your opinion on the grade before I can disclose what it is graded. I believe it is under-graded and have been thinking of sending it in to other reputed TPG for grading. But since PCI was/is not well regarded I am worried I might be missing some thing here.
Pic might show some grainy look on the coin's surface which is due to flick file compression. Surfaces on the coin are smooth and lustrous with no visible rub etc.

Stone-Mountain-Half-Grading-Opinion.

Thanks for looking.

Looks like a solid MS65 to me. That's a nice SM!

Very nice coin! I can't tell if that's hairlines or die polishing on the reverse field, so....... MS-64.

I would like to scan at all of the fields in detail, at high magnification (say 20x) before I would grade it.

Assuming the colors are right .... a few thoughts from me FWIW.

No doubt in my mind this is an MS coin ... no evidence of rub anywhere. Strike appears solid ... check out the Eagles breast on the reverse (you have your photos backwards ... most of us show the obverse in the left hand position).

Some concern about what might be a rim hit at 10:00 on the reverse above the letter "S" ... and some sort of smudge in the field on the obverse behind General Stonewall Jackson shoulder.

Assuming those are photo artifacts and not real coin impacts .... then I am going MS65 minimum with this one ... perhaps even MS66.

Lovely coin indeed PeaceBD .... and BTW this is one of only 5 I still need to complete my 50-coin type set!

I would be proud to own this example.

Let us know how your cross-over attempt turns out.

David

Guys, thanks for all the comments.
@Tumbleweedtrumpet, if you are talking about the line going through 'E' in Memorial it is a die polish mark as it is raised.
@David, thanks for the detailed opinion. I have to say the scuff mark is a some kind of mark on the coin but it does not penetrate the coins skin. There is a slight rim bump on the edge as you pointed.
This coin is graded AU-58.
