Not in the best of condition, but I like the design (and we've not had any from Hungary)

might be. it's kinda hard to top a guy in a neck brace preparing to take a stick to a kid for sweating in all directions.

I have 3 older coins, in really baaaad condition, but there are some gaps between them and 1743. If I can do it, I'm sure someone else can go back further than 1743.

I have 1723 and 1734 Farthings, plus a 1734 Halfpenny. I'll have to see if I can get the dates to show on scans. They are all very worn and rather unattractive coins, but as my 3 oldest coins I rather like them!

After much searching I found a 1742, it's not very good but at least it's a 1742.

It must be time for someone else to have a go!

I have but four more decent coins from this century, and they are all 1730 or older.
No need to be shy, folks.. open up those cigar boxes! Let's at least make it to the 1600's!

Cigar boxes?

Anyway, I'm finally back in the game with this year.

1741

It's another Dutch duit, this time from Overijssel province.

How-Far-Back-Can-We-Go?-Ended-At-1492-Waiting-On-1491

This was my first and is still my best Dutch duit. It's even got traces of lustre. The defect that makes the V look like an upside-down A is a flaw in the 2x2, but most of the other lines are die cracks.

After such a run of nice coins and medals, it's a shame to spoil it with my pathetic 1735. But here it is: another British halfpenny, not unlike andyg's 1742 coin, only slightly worse.
