This one gave me fits last night.

I spent about an hour comparing it to my 1983 P DDR looking for enough similarities to convince myself that I found another DDR. But, its just not the case. I wrote off all the doubling as MD pretty quickly, except for the C in CENT.

I took another look at it this morning and decided to put it in the reject pile.

It is definitely Machine Doubling - doesn't resemble either of the known doubled dies at all. No notching anywhere. Doubling is not "flat", but has all the characteristics of the details being flattened by details on the die...classic.

Seeing the real deal helps to discount a lot of want to be and not the real deal!
