Hi everyone,

I will be visiting LA (Century City area) and was wondering if anyone knew of any upstanding coin shops/dealers in that area?

Or if there are any coin shows in that area June 18th-26th

Thanks

Long Beach is a great show. About 20 miles from Century City is my local shop, Alhambra Coin Center. Great selection of PCGS and NGC coins as well as raw and bullion.

Yea I looked for coin show and saw that I was just going to miss the Long Beach show.

Dave, I may have to try that one if I can't find one closer.

Hey onejinx, in LA 20 miles is considered "close".

Theres a ton of Coin Dealers all around that area. Just do a google map search for Zip 90025. Theres one that would be about a 15 min drive(with no traffic) from Century City called Goldcoast Coin Exchange. Its more of dealer than a "coinshop" however and I think does more online sales then in-store. Heres a link to there ebay store:
http://stores.ebay.com/Goldcoast-Co...=p4340.l2563

Dont take my word as law, but I'm pretty sure they sell all items you see on ebay for 10% less in store(due to ebay fees).

The place I usually go is in Glendale, I'm not sure the name, I think "Coin Gallery" the owners name is Robert, been there for 30 years or more. Its a nice old-time coin shop with tons of trays to look at and many bargin bins. The selection for rare, high grade coins isn't that great as they usually get bought right away. It would be about 25 minutes from Century City, in Glendale on Brand Blvd.

Im definitely going to go to that Long Beach show in June. Does anyone know what kind of discounts you can get on coin grading if you submit your coins directly to the NGC reps at the show?

I concur.

While visiting relatives in Laguna Beach (the south end, almost in Dana Point) we drove to Pacific Palisades (near Malibu) just to see the ancient coins at the Getty Villa. Okay, we went to see everything at the Villa, the coins were a bonus for me. It was well worth the trip.

One of these years we are going to plan a trip to coincide with the LBC show. It seems like we always go just after the fall show.

I know this may be not the right place and not supposed to post a link but since everyone is on LB coin show. And I believe this informational link would be very helpful for other. So, I'll take my chance of being flagged.... hehehehe

This is the most reliable and up to date regarding "coin show" in "southland" (So-Cal), it does have Northern California too (those not in GREEN).

You have been here long enough, so the link is okay.

For what it is worth, that is a good link to share! I just discovered that there is a monthly show in Anaheim; very good to know.

Thanks jbuck.

The Anaheim show is not that big but does offer a variety of dealers. I do plan to go there on May 1st (haven't gone for a couple months).

I will probably be out that way again in the late fall. We stay in Laguna, but because we are Disney fanatics, we are in Anaheim at least once or twice during our trips. It's all part of the plan... more or less.

I don't mean to hijack this thread but may be it's a good idea to have a little CCF gathering for SoCal..... what do you guys thinks? From there, we can form something like CCF - SoCal chapter...... just my weird thought.

No problem, I can always split this out into its own topic if necessary.
