Hi,

I have an 1184-O Silver Dollar from the Fitzgerald Nevada Club Reno Hoard. The coin has been graded Brilliant Uncirculated. I have not been able to find anything about this coin. Does anyone have any idea of it's value? It was graded by NGC. Help!?

Thanks

I am guessing you mean 1884-O, which would make it a Morgan silver dollar.

Brilliant Uncirculated as a grade pre-dates the Sheldon Scale - MS-60, MS-63, etc. The coin is worth about $75 in MS-63, which is probably an average uncirculated grade. I believe companies like NGC will come across a large "hoard" of coins from a casino and will quickly grade them "Brilliant Uncirculated" rather than give them a numeric grade. The primary interest for a coin like this is its heritage as a casino coin as much as it's numismatic value.

WOW, now that is something. And if it is a USA coin, imagine having a coin made right here over 300 years before the USA was even found.
Just shows you all that the American Indians knew about BU coins long before others.
