Over the years I have acquired some Canadian silver but I do not know the silver content of these coins. I assume that Canada did some reductions in silver during the mid 60's and by 69 no silver was issued. What is the silver content of Canadian silver and when did they change the content?

1858-1919 .925
1920-1966 .800
1967 some.800 and some .500
1968 some quarters and dimes are .500
For '67 consult a Charlton's,for '68 use a magnet
.

Here's a link to show how Canadian bullion buyers sort the different contents, you'll see '67 and '68 are listed seperately
Hope the mods allow this link

Canadian coins were 80% from the 20's +/- up to 1967. Then from 1967 to 1968 it changed to 50%.

How was that for quick help!
FYI- in the states, Canadian "junk" usually brings a little less per ounce of actual silver than us "junk" silver. For instance, the dealer I use pays $1.25 under spot for Canadian, and just $0.75 under spot for US.
