I aggree. The money spent is not worth what you are gaining. Of course, it depends on why you want it changed.

I'm wondering what the perceived benefit is? Do you think the coin will grade higher with PCGS? Or do people regard PCGS more highly than NGC?

NGC is very well-respected - it's probably not worth it unless you think the coin was undergraded and want it regraded regardless. The fact that the coins are NGC is already reflected in the price you paid for the coin, so you'd essentially be double-paying for grading.

Save your money. I have to admit my bias against slabs; however, if I were to use them, I agree that NGC is just as good as PCGS.

with all the above ... but a few additional thoughts. You did not explain your motivation for trying to cross-over to PCGS ... perhaps that insight might change our perspective on the wisdom of doing so. For example ... if you are a few coins short of completing a PCGS registry set ... and have those coins already in NGC slabs ... then it is probably a good idea. Perhaps you have some truly high end coins in NGC slabs ... and are looking to sell them ... knowing that the same exact coins in PCGS holders do indeed (right or wrong) attract higher prices? Short of that ... NGC is a top-tier respected TPG and I would not advise the $30 +- per coin it would take to cross over to PCGS. Share what you are interested in crossing over to PCGS and why .... then we can offer some better advise than just a flat out 'no'. David edited for spllenging

Or maybe another theory, this person is very OC and wants all his/her coins to be graded by the same company, they started with NGC and recently bought or received a pcgs coin and likes the way it looks better in the holder. I have seen people that OC where they would lose sleep if something was different or out of place.

I would say only worhtwhile if you are absolutely sure they would bump up TWO points. Or one point if that one point jump would mean a big jump in value. If it would just stay the same it's almost certainly not worthwhile.

well I looked on both sites and the two of my 1996 MS69 ASE went for 83 bucks on ngc...but on the pcgs site the same grade was going for 100 bucks...was just curious to see

If you spend $40 to change them over that doesn't cover the extra profit you'll make

By "both sites" are you referring to the price guides on for both companies? That is not as accurate for determining actual pricing as looking at past sales (on ebay, for example).

Schmidtyss, I'll be frank with you, there's no way I'd even so much as consider doing that unless my target market were a bunch of dopes. NGC is a darn good grader and any half-way knowledgeable buyer is going to grade the coin in lieu of accepting the grade on the slab.

If anything PCGS will give lower grades, which is, in part, why people regard PCGS more highly than NGC. Occasionally PCGS will give a higher grade. If that's likely, by all means switch.
