Does this coin look cast to you? It seels like the surface is just too rough to be real. Any thoughts?

Looks good to me. Probably a ground find then harshly cleaned (environmental damage)

I'm no expert, but a quick glance made me say uuugh! The rim looks funny (probably cast), and the whole things looks bad. Don't know much about these old dimes though.

Their grading system of "high grade" and "better grade" also seems suspect to me.

I think it looks real too. It could have spent a lot of time under water, or a cleaned ground recovery like dave stated. It's a common date.

IMO, it probably had a corrosion problem, and was then cleaned...Harshly at that...

Definitely spent some time underground.

Pro tip - this seller habitually overexposes their photographs. As a result, they can be counted on for some stonkin' cherrypicks if you know what you're looking at.
