Here Is a pic of the date on a 1945-S Mercury dime. The numbers are doubled. This is not in Cherrypickers'. I am guessing this is an example of "strike doubling?"

Are there people who collect these or does this not affect the value at all?

Great coin either way!

There are collectors on ebay...I'm a Lincoln Cent guy and I've watched machine doubled pennies bring $12 to $31 for nice examples. Yours is not really as extreme as what I'm refering to though.

Thanks for the info - I like finding these nonetheless. After searching through a bunch of regular pieces and then an abnormality crops up - its kind of fun.

The low and flat doubling is the way you can find these Strike Doubling (or Machine Doubling). It sounds like you are having fun. Check my variety resoure pages and you will find images of a bunch or the Mercury dime Varieties.
