I was looking through a coin collection that I started when I was growing up and found what I believe is a 1937-D 3 legged Buffalo nickel. I am not an active coin collector. All the coins I have were found in circulation in the 50's and 60's as this one was. Any comments on the coin would be appreciated.
John

The obverse looks like it has been acid-etched or something. To me it looks like 4 legs, but I'd have to see a close-up of the reverse to tell for sure. Are you able to post a close-up of the legs with good resolution?

I think you are right. Looking at it with a magnifying glass, it looks like it has the fourth leg. Thanks.

I looked at it, but it appears to have all four legs.

Yea, it's a well worn coin, but I see 4 legs in your posted image.

Picture was small so I didn't even look for the fourth leg. I looked at a couple of the other diagnostics and they don't fit to be the three legged. Sorry

There's a good thread here with diagnostics to look for... rough patches on the bust's forehead and back of neck are missing from your coin along with other indicators.

Good job looking tough.
