I was toyin with the idea of getting a Dansco 7070 album and start filling it with the single coins I have. Does anyone know how often Dansco updates the 7070 for new coinage such as the ATB Quarters and the Westward Jefferson nickels, the Sac/Native American dollars, etc.? I would hate to buy an older album only to find out they updated it for coins like this in a month or two. thanks!

In most cases, you could simply buy the updated or additional page from Dansco. That is how they have done with other albums.

The most current iteration of the 7070 is only a 19th and 20th century type album, none of the 21st century types are included and and an update page has not been created yet.

You read my mind bobbymeru. I just ordered a 7070 and then thought the same question. I guess they will wait until there are enough new coins to fill a page before they add one. It must be getting close with all the new Nickels,Pres.Dollars and Cents in the last ten years.

So far, they are missing spots for a Shield cent, a newer Nickel (if included), a ATB Quarter, and a Presidential dollar. If they modify page 6, they might have room for some of those. But they will also have to modify a few other pages, like on Jefferson nickels were they labeled as "1938-date".

as was said the 7070 is up to 20th century so they stop at the year 2000. In other words if it was not in a series that was minted before 2000 it will not be added to a 7070 album. That is how I understand it anyway. If you notice the latest coin is the State Quarter and the Sacagawea dollar and the State Quarters were started in 1999 and the Sac. was started in 2000, so 2000 is the cut of point for the 7070 album

thanks. makes sense about the 19th and 20th century. but in my mind, the 7070 is a US coin collection for one of each design. guess I will wait a bit to see. besides, looked up pricings on coins I would need and it would be a small fortune. although it would be a great collection!

Quote: the 7070 is a US coin collection for one of each design Several of the early coins are also omitted, 18th century mostly, but also 19th century - like the Draped Bust/Heraldic Eagle silver coins, Chain and Liberty Cap cents, etc. Even the large diameter Bust Quarter and Dime and variations of other coins - like the 3 types of 3c silvers - are also omitted. I guess it is possible the 7070 could have a page added, but if I were to guess, it probably will stay as is for a while in my opinion.

yeah it seems if they are the more pricey design that Dansco left it out of the 7070 album. It does represent allot of the classic designs (and every little change they made) but not every different coin like I thought it would when I first thought about starting the album

Yes - there's a few coins I wish there were slots for, but one of the nice things about the 7070 is that is is relatively achievable - there's a few tough coins for sure, but no true rarities (although some conditional grade rarities do exist!)

If you are interested in a type set album that includes more recent coins, check out the Intercept Shield type set album. That's what I use, it goes from 1800 to 2009. It does not include 1700s coins or gold coinage (you can buy a page for gold coins if you want though). And you don't have to have one of every State Quarter or one of every Presidential dollar, just one example of each. It does have holes for all four of the '04-'05 nickel designs and the four 2009 penny designs.

KenKat. Your Us Type set and your Lincoln set look great. Have you filled in any of your key Lincoln's yet? I don't know why Dansco has three mt holes in the 7100 book after the 1958D. I keep all my varieties in 2x2's. What I did to fill those holes in my album I just put all three different reverses.

Thanks soccerdad! I have the 31-S now but still need the 09-S, 09-S VDB and 14-D. There's been some upgrades too - I need to take some new pictures. I've added the following in MS/BU since the current pictures:
1909-VDB 1909 1910 1913 1916 1917 1920-D 1921 1923 1924 1929-S 1931-S 1932 1933-D
Upgraded a few memorials also - gosh - been busier than I thought! I really need to get the camera out but it's a lot of work...
